Economist.com | A rising star in Mexico: "A rising star in Mexico

The man who would be president
Nov 13th 2003 | MEXICO CITY
From The Economist print edition

Mexico City's can-do leftist mayor is the early favourite for the presidency in 2006. Can he last the distance?

FOR political junkies, there is only one place to be at dawn in the capital city: at the mayor's daily press conference. At 6.15am every day, Andrés Manuel López Obrador steps in front of the cameras in the mayor's offices. About an hour later he strides out of the room to begin a working day that usually lasts until 10pm. The message is that this is a man who cannot wait to get behind his desk to serve the people. And the early start ensures that it is Mr López Obrador who sets the city's daily political agenda, and often that of the nation, on the breakfast news shows."

Creatures, small creatures.

Once in the beach i was sure that i could size the world, i was sure that i knew the exact curvature of the world. Yet another day while flying, i tough i was listening to the sound of the world, the soft sound of the world, like the never stoping waves of the never ending sea.

Today i found my self, just like the humans allways have been, in the middle of the universe, right in the middle. The fear grows so high, the pain, the sadness everywhere, but still -i am quite fortunate- i can hear the beauty, i can see the braveness of some ideas, still get amazed.

-Oh make a mask- like Cortazar used to say, don't let the day end, don't let the day gat over yet. I am here breathing, dreaming of me dreaming. I can hear it, i am alive, and strong as always.

"Letter To Memphis"

The day since i met her
i can't believe it's true
she came here from memphis
across the ocean sailing
and i saw her a i pleaded
why do you come so far and she said
trying to get to you
how i tried to get you
trying to get you
i'm sending a letter
i'll send it right to you
i'll send it to memphis
i know that someday
everything i needed and i wanted
used to be that my head was haunted
and all these sirens they make me mad
and all this violence it brings me down
i feel strong i feel lucky
trying to get to you
said i'm going to get to you
trying to get to you.

Quite large week, for now lets try to make a small review.
The Glisa group is making a very good job by having the linux seminars, there will be plenty of people because they gave official credist for the courses and this is the magic word for success in this university. And by these means, ranty is going to install linux all over the place, and i suposse this has to be useful for calculation. I just wonder how could you use System Imager to use OpenMosix, but it has to be used in a clever way. Is it smart to turn on and off the OpenMosix by night?.

Any way i suposse we will found this week. I tried to settle the NFS from our cluster to my machine, but it does not work, bad wasted times and no results anyway.

On the physics side of the box. I have finished the first version of the article and now i wonder, How do you distinguish between sequential and non sequential ionization from a density picture? I am working on two ideas, and hopefully, it will work and finally i can finish my work. Monday is a party for everybody but me, because Popov is coming and i have to work with him and Peter, my partner this weeks in the lab. By the way there is now 1.5 Gb on RAM for the nodes, 13 and 14.

Tuesday is when the laser starts working, they're coming to settle everything. More work but hopefully this will be fun.

A very sad story comes from Chicago this sunday morning but i wont say anything, i am not a beliver, but if i were i'd start praying for all the family in Chicago. But i am asking for all anyway.

Small cluster very big problems. In the University we have a small cluster 8 motherboards pentium 4 biprocessor with threads support that makes 32 virtual machines, a fast marynet switch is connected for parallel purpose. but here is the problem. In the cluster there is openmosix and scali desktop. This is supposed to be a queue list for jobs, but it never works, so everybody is tryng to put their jobs in a jungle-style way. And another problem is that there is only one user of the parallel features that occupy the 32 machines!!. The rest of the people uses it just for sequential jobs. So the problem is the following .How to set a policy for use of the cluster? I say. Go and buy very cheap boxes (100 or more) and use OpenMosix on it and leave the cluster for parallel jobs. got complains? Me too

muerte abajo
tumba abajo no volverá, no voverá

aire compacto
no he de durar
